Biography

Esther Martínez Figueira

María-Esther Martínez-Figueira holds a Ph.D. in Education Sciences from the University of Vigo, where she is currently employed. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Didactics, School Organization, and Research Methods and works in the Faculty of Education and Sport Sciences. Her academic background began with a degree in Psychopedagogy and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from the University of Santiago de Compostela. This training allowed her to begin her doctoral studies at the University of Vigo, where she earned her Ph.D. in 2008, and since then, she has continued to develop her professional career. In her teaching activities, she teaches courses related to new technologies applied to education. Her research interests span both university and non-university education, focusing on educational technology, technological and educational innovation, socio-educational inclusion, attention to diversity, inclusive schooling, initial and continuing teacher education, and practicum. She is a member of the CIES (Collaboration and Innovation for Educational and Social Equity) research group at the University of Vigo and the GTEA (Globalization, Technology, Education, and Learning) group at the University of Málaga. Lastly, in terms of her administrative activities, she has served as Vice-Dean of Practicum and Undergraduate Thesis for the degrees in Early Childhood and Primary Education, as well as the coordinator of the latter degree at the aforementioned faculty.
